NYC - Saturday Afternoon and Evening - Memorial Day Weekend
After lunch, Goose took me into the city to show me around. After jumping on the wrong train and riding back into Brooklyn (after we had just driven into Manhattan from Brooklyn), we stopped at Ground Zero, St. Paul's Chapel, and then walked the Brooklyn Bridge. After that, we headed to Parma, a restaurant that Goose's dad manages.

Getting on the BQE.
Some video of us going through Brooklyn - and no, I was not driving.

Ground Zero.

This is the vacant 41-story former Deutsche Bank AG building. There is currently some debate on how to properly tear it down. Here is an AP story written about it only a fews days before this picture was taken. Link

Here is the new 7 World Trade Center that just opened in March 2006. The original 7 WTC collapsed on the afternoon of September 11, 2001. The new tower is 52 stories tall, has 1.7 million square feet of leasable office space starting at the 11th floor, since the first 10 floors will house an electrical substation which will power most of lower Manhattan. The building is pretty big, but keep in mind the twin towers were each over twice as tall as this building and each had over 3.8 million square feet of office space. Here is more info on the building. Link

A great sign at Ground Zero. And yes, right across the street, people are selling watches and other crap.

St. Paul's Chapel - this is directly across the street from Ground Zero. It is where George Washington worshipped on his Inauguration Day, April 30, 1789. Amazingly, despite being only a street away from the collapsed towers, the Chapel suffered little damage on 9/11.

Here are gravestones at St. Paul's Chapel - Ground Zero is in the background.

Pretty cool.

This look familiar you Law & Order fans?

Amen.

Our dinner crew. Pictured are me, Goose's father, Enid (a co-worker from the Bolling legal office who is originally from Brooklyn), and Goose.

Cheers.
