The Osborns are Moving

Hey everyone, as most of you know we are in the process of moving to DC. Since we are not in Texas anymore, we figure a blog titled "The Osborn's in Texas" just would not be appropriate anymore so this site will no longer be updated. Not to worry, the blog will not go away and the blog will still work (look for the link on the right side of the new blog). However, all new posts will be on the new blog, ozinnova.blogspot.com.

But before you leave, be sure to check out the new posts below of a lot of things going on with Mo and K before we left town.

Mo's Surprise Going-Away Party

The Friday before we left, 16 14-year olds held a surprise going-away party for Morgan at one of her friend's house. The parents were very brave. Mo had a great time and it was a good sendoff for her. One of the first things they did was each girl made a scrapbook page for a big book for Morgan. She hasn't let that thing out of her sight since.

K's Pre-K Graduation Party

A few days after her graduation ceremony, K's class had a graduation party at school and swimming was involved.

K and her friend kept holding hands and going underwater together. The friend then would come up earlier than K.

Morgan's 8th Grade Dance

On Saturday night, Morgan had her 8th grade dance at school. Before the dance, Morgan and seven of her friends gathered for dinner then all rode together to the school for the dance. And as always, boys are evil.

Baby's First Picture and a Family Update

Here is the baby's first picture from a couple of weeks ago. Kerrie has been doing well save for the ridiculous San Antonio allergy season that she can now not take any of her regular medicine for.

In other news, it is official, we are moving back to DC in early June. I am staying in the Air Force and have accepted an assignment to go back north. In my first assignment, I was at the base legal office at Bolling AFB. I'll be back at the same base but will not be in the same office. Instead, I'll be working in the Government Trial and Appellate Government Division as an Appellate Government Counsel. As an Appellate Government Counsel, I will represent the Air Force in appellate review of courts-martial before the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals (the Air Force's appellate court) and the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces (the overall appellate court for all of the military services).

As you can imagine, things have been a little hectic and kicked into high gear here. Our house is now on the market (a beautiful little place if you are interested) and we are busy looking for houses and schools in the DC area. No, we are NOT going back to base housing. We are looking in the Burke or Fairfax area in Virginia. Kerrie is transferring back to work in the same job she had in DC and in San Antonio but will likely be working in Alexandria instead of downtown DC. Karlyle is most excited (like me) about the return of snow possibilities. Morgan is as excited as a 14 year old about to start high school can be but I think we have found her a school that she will fit right into. We are headed to DC this coming weekend to check out houses and schools.

So that's us for now. New job, new baby, selling a house, moving back across the country - not much happening.

Final Four & Taylor Swift

A couple of weekends ago, the Final Four was in town and that meant a boat load of tourists, basketball fans, and free concerts. On that Sunday, the girls and I braved heading downtown and walked the riverwalk, stopped by the Alamo, then headed to the main concert stage to see a free Taylor Swift concert. Enjoy.

The original layout of the Alamo. On the center of the back wall is the mission that still stands and what everyone recognizes as "the Alamo" today. The entire compound was actually rather large and you can still see the foundations of some of the outer walls across the street from the Alamo right next to Louis Tussaud's Wax Museum and Ripley's Believe It or Not. This is one thing that irritates me about the whole thing. Not 200 feet from the mission is a ton of tourist stuff that, at least for me, takes away from the historical aspect of the mission and the area. (Stepping down from soapbox)
