NYC - Sunday - Memorial Day Weekend

On Sunday, we went over to a cookout at a family friend's house. That friend just happened to be Richie Cannata and his family. You might know Richie as the saxophonist for Billy Joel - although he is sometimes called Rico during those gigs. He has also toured with the Beach Boys and played with countless other bands over the years. He also owns a recording studio and has worked with the likes of Ray Charles, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and Daryl Hall, just to name a few. The Cannatas live right around the corner from Goose's mom and they have known each other for some time. After we ate, Richie gave out cigars and told us stories of playing at Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium (only a week or so before he played the National Anthem) and all kinds of other places and venues he had played. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon.
