Tuscaloosa to San Antonio

On Saturday the 17th, my mom and I left Tuscaloosa at 4 in the morning on the final trek down to San Antonio. We got to Baton Rouge by 9 with hardly any traffic. But after BR, well apparently there was a wreck on the bridge between there and LaFayette. Meaning....dead standstill in the middle of the interstate for an hour. Yep, we got out, talked with some other travelers, looked for alligators in the waters below, and would have had a nice tailgate if we would have had a cooler and drinks.

After an hour, we finally got moving again and made it to San Antonio by dinner and in plenty of time for Fathers Day on Sunday.

A quick note: The pictures below of the LSU campus and downtown Baton Rouge were taken while we were on the bridge going over the Mississippi River at about 65 mph. I love my new camera's zoom. And no, I was not driving when I took those pics.

We'll be back come September.

Kirby-Smith (a.k.a. my home for a year in '96) and the Memorial Tower.

The State Capitol Building.
