A K Update

Here is a pic of K all ready for shopping last weekend. She is apparently growing her father's interest in music. Her top 3 favorites from my IPod (in no particular order):
1. "Ridin" - Chamillionaire - Otherwise referred to as "Dat Rollin' Song"
2. "Satisfy My Soul" - Bob Marley - She likes to sing the "Don't Rock My Boat" part
3. "Livin' In Fast Forward" - Kenny Chesney - She knows every word of the chorus
Buffett can't be too far behind.

Lunch with Claude
While I was in Tuscaloosa, Derek, Mom, and I got to have lunch with our cousin Claude who treated us at the University Club. If not for Claude, I would most likely not be a lawyer right now. Anyway, we took this picture and he was already wondering if he was going on the blog.

Here he is. The one, the only, Mr. Claude Burns.

Tuscaloosa to San Antonio
On Saturday the 17th, my mom and I left Tuscaloosa at 4 in the morning on the final trek down to San Antonio. We got to Baton Rouge by 9 with hardly any traffic. But after BR, well apparently there was a wreck on the bridge between there and LaFayette. Meaning....dead standstill in the middle of the interstate for an hour. Yep, we got out, talked with some other travelers, looked for alligators in the waters below, and would have had a nice tailgate if we would have had a cooler and drinks.
After an hour, we finally got moving again and made it to San Antonio by dinner and in plenty of time for Fathers Day on Sunday.
A quick note: The pictures below of the LSU campus and downtown Baton Rouge were taken while we were on the bridge going over the Mississippi River at about 65 mph. I love my new camera's zoom. And no, I was not driving when I took those pics.

We'll be back come September.

Kirby-Smith (a.k.a. my home for a year in '96) and the Memorial Tower.

Tiger Stadium.

The State Capitol Building.

The BR Skyline.

Stuck.

Really Stuck.

Like Not Moving.

At All.

Big bugs there in Louisiana.

Welcome to Texas. Get ya lightas up! (That's for Goose)
The Tuscaloosa Stay
So heading into Tuscaloosa on the morning of the 15th, I get a call from my brother saying that Pop is in the hospital. No worries. He is fine...but, "How did you know about those crackers? I was by myself." (Long story and Derek and I have told it too many times...literally.)
Anyway, stopping at the emergency room gave me the opportunity to snap the greatest picture in the history of the world. I hope you enjoy the humor as much as Derek and I did.

The Best Picture Ever. No Question.
From DC to Tuscaloosa
So I got left from DC on the 14th and rolled into Chattanooga that night after about 600 or so miles. Virginia is long and boring. No really...long and boring. Thanks to Mike, Rhonda, and Camille for housing me for the night when I came through. The next morning, I had breakfast with my grandmothers and cousin Slade in Gadsden before getting to Tuscaloosa...the half-way point.

Welcome to Alabama.

This sign on the back of this semi made me smile.
