Crazy Month

So I'm not sure where April went (or March or February for that matter). Things have been nuts around these parts. It has been raining in San Antonio constantly for about a month and Morgan is worried about the kinds of clothes she wears. Like I said...nuts. Mostly our lives have revolved around soccer. Here is what our weekend looks like. Friday afternoon I get off around 4:30, drive about an hour to pick up K and get home, get her changed, then drive 10 minutes to soccer practice which starts at 6 and I help coach. On Saturday, K plays in the morning and Morgan has a game in the afternoon. On Sunday, Morgan plays again. Her last 4 games have been in Austin (hour away), Boerne (45 minutes), Blanco (30 minutes), and Austin (guess). Adding in that she has to be there an hour early and you get the picture. We're pretty sure laundry is spilling outside the house.

On a lighter note, I move to the defense counsel office on Monday. I originally was going over in mid-May but that has been moved up. It should be interesting. Oh - we have finished our flower beds in the front (we added another 12x7 footer). I'll post pictures this weekend of the results. Kerrie has faux-painted the dining room as well. I'll get a pic of that up too. Til then, take care and enjoy these pictures.

Actual conversation from this past weekend as we are shopping for new clothes for Morgan. We had just been to Aeropostale and were headed to American Eagle.

Mo: I also would like to go to that Abercrombie and...I can't remember what it's called.
Me: You mean Abercombrie and Fitch.
Mo: Yeah..but Dad, how do you know the name of that store?
Me: Where do you think I used to shop when I was in college?
Mo: You mean that store was opened back then?

K's 2nd Game

K had her second game on the 24th. The night before at practice, I helped the coach keep control of the kids and inadvertently became the assistant coach. This game went much better than the first - we didn't score one goal for the other team - a marked improvement over the first game. And I must tell you the overall importance of the "snack and juice box" bribery for playing the game. We got to the field and K said she was tired (keep in mind the game was at noon). Anyway, I told her if she didn't play she wouldn't get her snack and juice box after the game. Within .1235737824 seconds, she was off. Don't underestimate the power of the snack and the juice box.

This was about the time the ball went under Kerrie's chair. It's like a thunderous herd from a safari coming at you. Scary times.

Another Day...Another Office

In the middle of May, I will be moving to the Area Defense Counsel job at work - meaning I will be one of 3 defense counsels for military personnel on base. To get ready for that job, I moved out as the military justice section chief so that I can have some time away from new military justice cases. This will keep me from being conflicted on those cases and, more importantly, keep me from having to travel a great deal over the summer. In any case, here are some pictures of my office before I moved. I am now in my third office since I arrived at Lackland last June. And yes, I've gotten good at packing and unpacking.
